Experience the pure joy of surfing your first wave or take your current skills to the next level. With Sunset Sessions surf school, you’ll be in good hands. Our International Surfing Association (ISA) qualified instructors will make sure you have a fun, safe and memorable experience.
Based on your ability level and the wave conditions, your coach will find a surf break that is perfect for you near Punta de Mita or Sayulita or along the Riviera Nayarit’s stunning coastline. Our surfing classes are customised for each client or group to ensure the most enjoyable surfing experience for all.
SURF LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS
Learn the basics of surfing during this beginner surf lesson such as paddling, standing, riding waves, or improve upon your beginner-level skills.
BEYOND-BEGINNER SURF COACHING
Build your skills learning bottom turns, carving & cutbacks. Take your beginner surfing to the next level- make the drop, bottom turn, cutback & more.
ADVANCED SURF COACHING
Once you have all the basic moves down, learn more progressive manoeuvres. We use video coaching, perfecting skills on land with skate sessions and progressive training plans. We can also explore faster breaks and ride larger waves!

FAQ
Q. What is included?
A. We provide surf boards, rash vest for sun protection and one experienced surf coach for every three participants.
Q. How long are the sessions?
A. The lessons last 2 hours split into teaching techniques on the beach and then practicing in the water. Calculate around 3 hours in total from meeting you at La Lancha HQ or Sayulita pick-up (Terrenal) and saying good bye.
Q. How many people can you accept per session?
A. Group size: 1-9, more may be possible in exceptional circumstances, and with a bit of advanced warning. It’s just you and your homies on the booking!
Q. What about transportation?
A. We provide transport from Sayulita or Punta de Mita area with your surf lesson, though if you have your own, great! If we have space we can also give you a ride for a fee. We don’t do transport only.
Q. What do you provide and what do we have to bring?
A. For surf sessions, we provide the boards and all the accessories you’re going to need. You’ll need swimming gear (that will stay on), towels, sunscreen (reef safe please!), drinking water.
Q. We’re ready to book! How does that work?

Q. When and where do we meet
Own transport: At the main car park for La Lancha beach next to Makai Restaurant.
Sayulita: Pick up is in front of Terrenal (corner Calle Libertad and Punta de Mita Highway).
Contact us if you need to be picked up from another location in the Punta de Mita area.
Q. Can you pick me up from my hotel/ airbnb in sayulita?
A. No, we stopped picking up from the center of Sayulita. Sayulita’s traffic has become a burden on the town and we don’t want to add to the congestion. Terrenal is easily reached on foot. There is also parking around if you come by golf cart.
Q. Can I bring my friends along who don't surf
A. You may bring non surfers along however, if you are using our transport service they will be charged per person.
Q. How much does each specific activity cost
A. All activities for 2 or more people are 1700 MXN. All private, one person experiences are 2200 MXN. All prices are shown on the website. And yes! We do appreciate tips :)
Q. Can we pay you online?
A. Yes please book via the bookings page.
Q. What is the minimum ages for kids?
A. Eight year old is ideally the youngest, however if you hire a 1:1 private lesson, seven years old works well. We require at least one parent to stay nearby throughout the lesson.
